United Baptist Church in Jesus Christ was founded in 1997 in Phelindaba, Pretoria, by Bishop Mabena. Bishop Mabena comes from the United Baptist Church of God In South Africa, where he was also a Bishop, but was forced to leave because of disunity amongst church leaders at the time.
When it was formed, United Baptist Church in Jesus Christ (UBC in Jesus Christ) had six branches, these being Phelindaba, Mamelodi, Winterveldt, Soweto, KwaNdebele and Standerton. These branches are still as founded to date.
United Baptist Church recognises its very nature of being a Baptist Church, and not any other type of a church, and it makes transparent its beliefs, also found on the ‘Our Beliefs’ page on this website.
We strive to modernise the way we worship without altering the word of God. Scriptural supremacy is one of our pillars of existence. Our modernisation efforts are aimed at making young people enjoy learning about God and Christ, and enjoy living a life that is dedicated to the creator and our callings.
We call on every one, those who know God, and those who do not know God, to join us as we learn, teach, praise, worship, devote and pray our living God. We learn from one another, and we remember to trust the Lord with all of our hearts, minds and souls.
